AHHHH.. aren’t you LOVING this weather! I’m already margarita-ing in celebration of the sunshine and pleasant breeze. I adore this time of year!! I am going to soak up the sunshine this Spring and Summer. Winter is toooo long! Anyways.. in my excitement I got my little cookie monster outdoors today for a little mini shoot. The moment we got outside, Brydie took in a deeeep breath and said “isn’t this a lovely summers day!” :-) She’s so cute! Here are a few captures from our time outside today. They warm my heart!! She’s is SUCH a kid now.. not a babe at all. I swear.. it feels like it was just last week when I had her cradled in my arms nursing. And now she’s my big, chatty, goofy girly girl… FULL of enthusiasm for life.. never without words to say.. always smiling. She is my absolute best friend.. and I’m pretty sure I’m her’s! Today’s quote; “Mommy.. I love you more than butter!” :-)

Oooooooo we love these! My mini album is a HUGE hit these days. It seems everyone wants to add one of these cute books to their coffee table collection
So here’s the scoop on this popular product: It is an 8×8 album.. (perfect size for a memorable keepsake) and contains 10 pages which showcase your absolute FAVORITE images from your session. It’s a perfect sized book to highlight your most adored moments from our time together. I custom design each one from scratch. I simply have my clients let me know their faves and together we create the perfect book! I think they are adorable.. short, sweet and only contain the best of the best. A lovely keepsake to cherish and pass down for generations. I’m working on a whole collection of these books of my own family!!

I always encourage my wedding couples to have an engagement session! It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other a little more and really get a feel for working with one another. You’ll see how I shoot.. and I’ll get a sense of how you are in front of my camera
And we’ll be worry free and relaxed on the big day! I had an awesome time with Emily and John. We met at the U of T campus in downtown Toronto and had a blast! It was of course quite cold and I apparently preferred jackets OFF for quite a number of shots.. haha.. I am so sorry guys! lol. But I gotta say.. as cold as you may have felt, you pulled it off. You’re both amazingly photogenic.. SUCH a blessing for a photographer of course. But even more importantly you’re both so relaxed.. you guys just melt into each others arms and truly know how to laugh with one another. I can tell you two will inspire some very beautiful wedding images! I soooo look forward to your upcoming wedding! Emily and John everyone……

I can’t express how much I enjoy working one on one with someone else who loves photography! I loved my time with Karen sooo much! We had a wonderful time talking photography and an even better time photographing her adorable granddaughter. My focus during our short shoot was a) finding the light and b) setting the scene. The best way to determine good light is to look into your subjects eyes. A catch light is that shape of light shining within the eyes. The best portraits have big, beautiful, shiny catch lights. This gives your image LIFE! Take a peek at my website.. you’ll see all the different shapes and lights in my subjects eyes. The images wouldn’t be the same without! Karen and I then discussed setting up our scene. We ventured around her home and I pointed out good shooting areas and why. I find the key to a stunning photograph is to SIMPLIFY as much as possible. Don’t shoot in an area that has an over crowded back ground. Instead select a part of your home that is simple.. maybe under decorated and just plain. You are.. after all.. wanting to showcase your adorable subject! If there’s anything distracting in your background the eyes of those viewing your photograph may wander, instead of absorbing the beauty of the little one you’re photographing. IF there is anything in your image make sure it compliments your subject and draws the eyes of viewers directly back to her precious little face. My style: the lesser the better! These are just a couple tips I shared with Karen during our private lesson. It was an awesome experience and I look forward to meeting with her again in a couple weeks. It is incredibly exciting watching another grow in their love and ability for photography. Here is a couple shots I captured during our lesson. Her beautiful granddaughter:

Gap has done it again! Getting you excited for Spring??? The thing I LOVEEE most about photographing kids in the spring is more skin! I love seeing bare little shoulders and arms. So fresh and free! Just thought I’d post a little wardrobe inspiration as we nudge a little closer to the warmer weather. I think Gap’s new spring collections are to die for! Love the casual Stud look on this little dude! And LOOK at her! I am sooooo heading to Gap. You’ll see a photo session of my daughter in this VERY outfit posted sometime over the spring! lol

Sooooo excited about my beautiful wall gallery!! This is a combination of my own photography and Karen Byker from Niagra: Reflections of Life Photography I just adore looking at this each and every day! The moments Karen captured between my daughter and I mean the world to me and remind me of my love for her. The moment I put these up in my new condo.. it felt like home
They seriously bring SUCH joy to me every day. I’ll be adding another row to include my other family members… my two sisters, brother in law and my father. As you can see I have my mom in here a couple times… She’s the only family member who has co-operated with me so far. What is with the rest of them… why not take advantage of the photographer in the family?! lol. That top on to the very right is Brydie’s first day of school… LOVE IT!
by the way.. the camera lens distorted the frames a little.. they’re actually put up pretty straight and in line. It was NOT an easy task, but sooo worth it!!
